How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
No one was selling disaster preparedness supplies in a one-stop shop, and no one was making 72-hour kits for emergencies. No one in San Diego North County was selling Boy Scout supplies, so we did. We also manufacture our own emergency blankets for retail and wholesale and for military.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We are the original disaster preparedness store. When we started, we were so unique that David Letterman and Jay Leno were making fun of us on national TV and we were featured in Entrepreneur Magazine. Now there are hundreds, but we have stayed a mom-n-pop shop, family owned and operated, and we have full control over the quality of the products we sell. We do not sell junk, we don't sell food storage that makes you sick, we don't recycle our water storage barrels, and every item that we sell has been hand selected for utmost quality at consumer affordable prices. We have family traditions of Boy Scouting, so we love to sell Boy Scout and Cub Scout uniforms and supplies to local customers to save them a trip to San Diego. Our oldest sons now help us run our stores in Oceanside and Hawaii, where we have family to protect.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We have 2 locations currently in Oceanside CA and Waipahu, Hawaii. We are trying to protect and prepare the communities where our family members live, helping one family at a time, one business at a time, and being involved in community education. We also carry CERT supplies and help out at evacuation centers as needed. We currently are not expanding Be Ready Inc, as we are opening a new distribution center for GoBag dry bags called Jericho Distribution LLC.

From HWY 78, take El Camino Real north to Oceanside Blvd. Turn left (west) at the light. Go one and a half blocks west to 2921 Oceanside Blvd. From I-5, exit on Oceanside Blvd. Turn left (away from the ocean) and go 1.6 miles to 2921 Oceanside Blvd. We will be on the right hand side of the street, across from Napa Auto Parts.
What type of payments do you accept?
Credit Cards, cash and checks. Cash and checks are preferred.
Which areas do you service?
Anywhere. We have a website www.bereadyinc.com. Walk-in customers come from all over north and east San Diego County.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
We are a family owned and operated business.
What are your hours of operation?
9-6:00 Mondays - Saturdays. We are always closed Sundays.
