Michele B. Brown is an attorney licensed in the State of California and the United States District Court for the Southern District. She is a Certified Specialist in Family Law and handles complex dissolution of marriage actions, nullity, pre-marital and post-marital agreements, high conflict custody cases, income analysis and business valuations. Ms. Brown cares deeply about the law and her clients. It is for this reason Ms. Brown is actively involved in family law legislation and politics.
Selected as one of San Diego Daily Transcript's Top Family Law Attorneys for 2007 and for 2009, and Our City San Diego’s Top Family Law attorneys for 2009 and 2010, Ms. Brown is a Supervising and Trial Attorney with the Law Offices of Beatrice Snider, APC.
Ms. Brown obtained her Juris Doctorate from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1994, where she received the 1994 Award for Excellence in Trial Advocacy. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with a Minor in Spanish, from the University of California, Riverside in 1989, and as a Rotary International Scholar, she studied Politics and French at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. She was a British Universities North American Exchange student in London, England and worked as a legislative analyst in Washington, D.C.
Ms. Brown was admitted to the State Bar of California and the Federal District Court for the Southern District in 1994 and she became a Certified Specialist in Family Law in 2002. She sits as a Judge Pro Tem for Family Law Settlement Conferences and is on the Certified Family Law Specialist Mediation panel.
Ms. Brown a member of the Family Law Executive Committee of the State Bar of California (FLEXCOM) and is the Affirmative Legislation Chair of the Executive Committee of the State Bar of California, Family Law Section. As the Affirmative Legislation Chair, she has co-authored family law bills that have been enacted into law, including AB 1679 and AB 459. She has worked with members of the State legislature on family law bills and has testified before the California State legislature on family law bills.
Ms. Brown was also a member of the FLEXCOM Elkins working group and the San Diego County Family Law Action Committee Elkins working group.
Ms. Brown is a Board Member of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC), California Chapter. She is also a member of the Association of Certified Family Law Specialists.
Ms. Brown is a member of the Executive Committee of the San Diego County Certified Family Law Specialists. She is the Chair of the San Diego Certified Family Law Specialists Legislation Committee and is on the following subcomittees for the family law specialist committee: local rules on business valuations; education committee; SDCBA/CFLS Protocal committee; Elkins committee.
Ms. Brown is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association, the Family Law Section of the San Diego County Bar Association, the Family Law Section of the State Bar of California and the Law Practice and Management Section of the State Bar.
Ms. Brown was Chair of the Winter 2009 Certified Family Law Specialists Seminar and she co-chaired the Spring 2007 and Summer 2009 Certified Family Law Specialists Seminars. Ms. Brown has been a speaker at several Certified Family Law Specialists Seminars on Jurisdictional Issues and statutes; she has co-presented a webinar on business valuations and the Elkins decision and she has written articles for the San Diego Certified Family Law Specialists Newsletter and the State Bar Family Law News.
As the Family Law Floor leader for the San Diego County Bar Association Conference of Delegates, Ms. Brown authored several proposed Family Law bills. She is a volunteer family law attorney for the annual KNSD Ask-A-Lawyer program.
Ms. Brown has an attorney rating on AVVO of Superb (10 out of 10). Ms. Brown is proficient in Spanish and conversant in French.
Ms. Brown resides in the North Park area of San Diego. Traveling, politics and spending time with her family and friends are her passions outside the practice of law, whether it’s spelunking in Iceland, bungee jumping in New Zealand, scuba diving in Australia, riding on a Harley in Maui, hiking through the John Muir wilderness or wine tasting in France. Her passion for politics has had her working on Capital Hill in D.C., serving on numerous political committees and working on campaigns.
